What can I expect when attending therapy with Jacqueline?
Every session is unique and caters to the clients specific goals. During therapy sessions, we will discuss the primary issues and concerns that motivated you to seek a therapist for your child/teen/family. Therapy sessions last 45 minutes and it is common to schedule appointments once a week for the first couple of months.
The length of time in therapy can vary greatly depending on clients individual goals, the complexity of the issues being addressed and clients readiness for change. Furthermore, therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term, addressing issues that are more complex and ongoing personal growth. For therapy to be most effective, you must be an active participant, both during and between the sessions.
Experts recommend therapy to occur on a weekly basis. Often the work done in one session serves as a building block for the next week's work and so on. When more than one-week lapses, the emotions and feelings brought up in a session often dissipate or defense mechanisms take over. For lasting sustainable change, weekly sessions are recommended.
By appointment only.
